NASFT Launches Sustainability Information Center At 2012 Winter Fancy Food Show

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
San Francisco (Jan. 15, 2012) – The National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT) announced today the launch of a first-time onsite Sustainability Information Center open to all attendees during the 37th Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco at Moscone Center, January 15th – 17th, 2012.
The show is the largest marketplace devoted exclusively to specialty foods and beverages on the West Coast. It presents 80,000 products from 1,300 food artisans, importers and entrepreneurs from 35 countries and regions. The year’s show is the largest Fancy Food Show to date in San Francisco, and on track to break last year’s attendance record of more than 17,000 attendees.
The NASFT, the show’s owner, has partnered with LEGACY Sustainability Management to create the Center in an effort to increase attendee education and engagement regarding Fancy Food Show sustainability initiatives, Moscone Center sustainability initiatives, and how attendees and vendors can positively impact the show. To “kick off” communication with participants, the Sustainability Information Center is located in the Moscone Center Lower North Lobby.
“The NASFT takes pride in knowing that the Fancy Food Show is an essential industry event that exposes great products, connects the specialty food community, and spurs industry growth, but also recognizes that the show has real impacts on our planet and host communities,” says NASFT President Ann Daw. “We are committed to working with event partners to continuously improve sustainability performance and create a transparent dialogue regarding our efforts.”
All attendees are encouraged to visit the Sustainability Information Center to learn more about the extensive Food Donation Program operated in partnership with Feed the Hungry, food composting at the show, and waste and resource reduction efforts. Representatives at the booth are working to understand what sustainability-related issues exhibitors are currently facing to ensure the NASFT continues to expand the resources it provides to its membership community.
