Ciao Bella Gelato: Key Lime Graham Gelato Squares

Now with an astounding 16 sofi™ Gold Awards to its credit, Ciao Bella Gelato proves once again that it is a brand leader in the specialty food industry. This time, the premium gelato and sorbet manufacturer has taken a step into the novelty market with the creation of Key Lime Graham Squares. Deborah Holt, vice president of marketing, says Ciao Bella’s entry into squares was a natural progression for a company that prides itself on innovation.

Based on the company’s Key Lime Graham Cracker Gelato, a previous sofi Winner, Ciao Bella decided to take the best-selling flavor—made with lime juice, Graham crackers and pure cream—a step further with a little help from its customers. Holt explains that they received a lot of feedback with the Key Lime pint that centered on consumers wanting more Graham cracker. “There are not a lot of large pieces of Graham cracker in the pint,” she explains, “but if you get a big piece of Graham cracker in your spoonful, you feel like you scored.”

With this in mind, Danville Zecchin, the company’s on-staff chef, designed the Key Lime Graham Squares to provide an ideal amount of cracker and Key lime gelato in each bite. Holt adds that the Squares add a more salty taste and crunchy texture than the pint, which creates a product that is more of a dessert.

According to Holt, Ciao Bella has also released other line extensions, such as a Blood Orange Sorbet Bar and a Vanilla Raspberry Gelato Bar that is dipped in dark chocolate. —D. Marrero

Tart Key lime gelato between two graham wafers offers a delicious and portable dessert option. The squares can also be arranged on a plate for an indulgent dessert for a crowd. The squares are all natural, kosher, free of corn syrup and refined sugar, and made with non-RbST-treated milk. Fresh lime juice is used from Mexico and Florida.
