US Consumers Mistakenly Believe Certain Foods are Unsafe

About 76% of U.S. consumers mistakenly believe certain foods are unsafe to eat after the date printed on the packaging has passed, according to a ShelfLifeAdvice.com and Harris Interactive study. Almost half of the 2,482 respondents believed eggs were considered unsafe to eat past the printed package date even if refrigerated, and 61% mistakenly believed that the printed date on milk is the final date it can safely be consumed.
