The Summer Fancy Food Show opens tomorrow at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Attendee registration remains open throughout the show online and in person at Javits Center. This year’s event has the most exhibitors since it was first held in 1955. The exhibit halls will be filled with the latest products and best-in-class cheeses, confections, charcuterie and more from 2,730 exhibitors representing 49 countries. Highlights include the sofi™ Awards for the outstanding specialty foods of 2014, the introduction of the Specialty Food Foundation to help combat hunger, and a full menu of education seminars. Urban Accents introduces three new flavors to enhance its line of Veggie Roasters. “Vegetables should be a cornerstone on every plate, and we’re so excited to enhance their flavor with our new blends,” says Tom Knibbs, president of Urban Accents. The new flavors are Spicy Peri Peri & Lemon Veggie Roaster, a kicked-up spice blend of chili peppers, garlic, sea salt, and lemon peel; Manchego & Roasted Garlic Veggie Roaster, a complex flavor combination of manchego cheese, garlic, onion, and black pepper; and Dijon Pepper Vinaigrette Veggie Roaster, steakhouse-inspired flavors of cracked pepper, coriander, sea salt, mustard, and vinegar powder.
These three join Urban Accents’ popular line of four all-natural, gluten-free Veggie Roasters: Sweet & Spicy Moroccan, Asian Curry & Honey, Balsamic & Roasted Onion, and Parmesan Mediterranean. Booth 1850
Old Cavendish Products debuts the only certified gluten-free fruitcake on the market, according to the company. The all-natural, organic product aims to attract the growing segment of customers wanting to avoid gluten. Made with pure fruits and nuts, sweetened with honey, and drenched in liqueurs, this moist cake is packaged in three giftable sizes: 40-ounce red gift tin; 16-ounce box; and 4-ounce baby cakes. It’s being touted as a nourishing provision for an all-day trek and an ideal a complement to cheese and dry apple cider. Booth 4549
Peeled Snacks, maker of organic, real fruit snacks, debuts its latest treats: Trail Mix + Dark Chocolate. Both healthy and a little indulgent, the filling combination of fiber and protein from the fruit and nuts matched with a touch of dark chocolate provides a healthy energy boost. Plus, they’re naturally packed with essential vitamins and minerals and free of gluten and GMOs.
“Our new trail mixes include Peeled Snacks’ longtime favorites—soft and chewy mango, banana, and apple—with no added sugar, lightly salted nuts and a bit of dark chocolate,” says Noha Waibsnaider, Peeled Snacks founder and CEO. The new product is USDA certified organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, and kosher. Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, in partnership with spirits maker Solbeso, will host two cocktail hours on Sun., June 29, and Mon., June 30 from 4 to 5 p.m. The featured cocktails will be made with Solbeso, the first premium 80-proof white spirit made with 100 percent fresh cacao fruit, and Nielsen-Massey’s pure vanillas and flavor extracts. The first is Beso del Rey, made with Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Bean Paste and Pure Chocolate Extract with ancho chile liqueur. The second is Sol y Rosas, made with Solbeso, Crème de Peche, lemon juice, and simple syrup with a spritz of Nielsen-Massey Rose Water just before serving.
“The naturally sweet and floral aroma of Solbeso pairs well with many Nielsen-Massey products, including our sweet and fragrant Rose Water, making for cocktails that are both decadent and refreshing,” said Matt Nielsen, COO of Nielsen-Massey Vanillas. Robert Rothschild Farm is launching a new certified organic product line comprised of six gourmet sauces. Blueberry Balsamic Sauce combines sweet blueberries with balsamic vinegar and shallots, basil, and black pepper. Citrus Chardonnay Sauce pairs fennel with honey, orange, and chardonnay. Pineapple Habanero BBQ Sauce takes inspiration from the company's popular pineapple habanero dip. Sriracha Teriyaki Sauce is on trend with the Sriracha craze, adding teriyaki and hints of citrus for a new take. Whiskey Pepper Cream Sauce offers a balance of creaminess and heat with a medley of Dijon, garlic, white miso, and a splash of whiskey. And White Wine Creole Sauce starts with a spicy tomato base, adding white wine with celery, bell peppers, and onions for a Southern-style sauce. The team at Beanitos launches Beanitos Puffs, a new take on the bean snack. Icebox Water has introduced its new 100 percent recyclable and BPA-free pressed-paper box carton. The new packaging also features insulation that allows water to stay cooler longer for maximum refreshment. Icebox Water has added distribution in three regions of Whole Foods in the Pacific Northwest, Florida, and Atlanta. Icebox Water is already available in Whole Foods markets in Northern California. Additionally, Icebox Water has opened three new United Natural Foods, Inc., warehouses, based in Iowa City, Sarasota, and Atlanta.
