NYC Travel & Freight Changes During the World Cup

New York City has announced transit restrictions during local World Cup match days that may impact your travel during the Summer Fancy Food Show.

Plan Ahead to Avoid Delays

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is coming to the New York/New Jersey area starting in June through the Final on July 19. With the increase in fans moving around the city, NYC has announced transit changes and restrictions that may impact your travel during the 2026 Summer Fancy Food Show.

Important local World Cup match dates:

  • Thursday, June 25
  • Saturday, June 27
  • Tuesday, June 30

For All Participants: Travel Guidance

  • Increased car traffic is anticipated on local match days and throughout the weekend, due to a high number of fans in the city. Read the city’s Midtown Transportation Plan for more.
  • Public transit including the MTA Subway and Buses and New Jersey Transit are likely to have schedule changes on local match days.

For a smooth Show experience, please give yourself extra time and enjoy the World Cup buzz!

For Exhibitors: Transportation & Freight Advisory on Local World Cup Match Days

Exhibitors should anticipate increased traffic congestion and transportation restrictions in and around Midtown Manhattan on the following dates:

  • Thursday, June 25
  • Saturday, June 27
  • Tuesday, June 30

Passenger Vehicles

Exhibitors traveling by car should anticipate increased traffic and allow extra travel time when arriving at or departing from the Javits Center during match days. We strongly encourage everyone to plan accordingly and monitor local traffic conditions.

Freight Deliveries

Due to the anticipated congestion affecting freight movement throughout Midtown Manhattan, we strongly recommend that exhibitors instruct their carriers to check in with the Freeman team at the North Freight Check-In Office during overnight hours, between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am.

As space permits, trucks will be staged within the Javits Center campus prior to being dispatched to the loading docks.

After 8:00 am, if staging space remains available, drivers should bypass the North Freight Check-In Office and proceed directly to the 40th Street entrance. If staging space is unavailable, drivers will be directed to stage outside the restricted area (south of 30th Street or north of 60th Street) and return after 12:00 pm to check in.

Once space becomes available, trucks will be staged within the Javits campus and drivers will be escorted to the sign-in office to complete the freight delivery process.

Move-Out Planning – Tuesday, June 30

Given the anticipated traffic conditions and restrictions on the evening of show close, we strongly discourage scheduling over-the-road carrier pickups on Tuesday, June 30. Exhibitors should work with their carriers to make alternative arrangements whenever possible.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work closely with the Javits Center, Freeman, and local authorities to facilitate the smooth movement of freight during these high-traffic periods.
