To honor Black History Month, Kroger said it is spotlighting a variety of Black-owned and founded businesses.
"We're excited to support Black entrepreneurs, innovators and chefs who are creating cutting-edge products our customers can't wait to try," said Reshamar Short, Kroger's senior director of diversity and inclusion, in a statement. "We encourage every customer to explore new brands, become inspired by their history, and make them a staple in their home."
Kroger is also highlighting a curated collection of specialty food items from Black-owned brands, including:
• Andy's Hot 'N' Spicy Chicken Breading
• A Dozen Cousins Medium Mexican Cowboy Pinto Beans
• Goode Foods All Natural Mixed Vegetables
• Michele's Butter Pecan Syrup
• Partake Chocolate Chip Soft Cookies
On the Kroger website, there is a dedicated page for celebrating Black History Month. The grocer explains the history of the celebration, and how certain cuisines and culinary traditions can be recognized during this time.
“There is no denying the incredible mark the Black community has added to our history and culture. So, while you’re savoring the diverse and flavorful recipes inspired and created by our colorful past, remember to honor, and celebrate those who have come before and who are yet to come,” wrote Kroger on its website.
