Dariush and Jamshid Soofer

Brothers Dariush and Jamshid emigrated to Los Angeles from Iran in 1979. They longed for the familiar aromas and tastes of home but couldn't find them on supermarket shelves. To fill the gap, they launched Sadaf in 1982. The brothers pioneered and innovated by importing various spices that were absent and developed unique seasoning lines and specialty teas. Although Sadaf began with a modest 17 products, it has grown to 800 SKUs, and operates as an importer, manufacturer, and distributor.
