Matt Nielsen is the Owner and Director of Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, a family business renowned for its premium vanilla extracts and long-standing commitment to quality and sustainability. As a third-generation owner, Matt was born into the business. His early exposure to the industry — from family dinner table discussions to attending Fancy Food Shows — sparked a deep appreciation for food, flavor, and the community that surrounds them. 

Matt has been a member of the Specialty Food Association for many years, and given back to SFA by serving on the Board of Directors and participating in countless committees. The industry’s generosity keeps the fire of inspiration alive in him: “I love the sense of community, the diversity of products, and the willingness of more established companies to mentor the next generation,” he says. 

Looking ahead, Matt and his family are focused on growth and legacy — with the goal of one day passing the business on to the fourth generation.
