Shatila Bakery, praised by The Wall Street Journal, brings its legendary Middle Eastern pastries to New York City this June—led by the women continuing its founder’s legacy.
New York, NY – June 2025 — This summer, the bakery behind what The Wall Street Journal once called “America’s best baklava” will take center stage at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City, June 29 – July 1.
That bakery is Shatila, a family-owned institution founded in 1979 by Riad Shatila in Dearborn, Michigan. What began as a neighborhood shop has since grown into a national powerhouse of Middle Eastern pastries, beloved by customers coast to coast for its craftsmanship, flavor, and cultural authenticity.
Today, Shatila is proudly women-led, run by Riad’s wife and three daughters, who have preserved the handmade process and family values that built the brand—while expanding its reach through nationwide shipping, wholesale distribution, and specialty retail partnerships.
Shatila is known nationwide for its signature Baklava, Maamoul, Petit Four Cookies, Ice Cream, and Knafeh—each crafted with time-honored techniques, premium ingredients, and a commitment to authentic flavor that spans generations.
Attendees can taste the heritage, quality, and elegance behind Shatila Bakery at the Summer Fancy Food Show, Booth 2454.
