Central Texas Roaster Lamppost Coffee Wins Overall Champion for Small Chain on International Stage

Round Rock, TX (February 27, 2026) — Lamppost Coffee, a rapidly rising Texas-based roaster, continues to build remarkable momentum on the global competition stage following a breakout year at Golden Bean events worldwide. What began as the company’s first introduction to the world’s largest roasting competition, Golden Bean, in October 2024 has since evolved into an impressive string of achievements, earning multiple gold medals on top of the Overall Champion for Small Chain title at this year’s competition in Australia!

Lamppost Coffee’s October 2024 debut qualified them for the 2025 World Series, where Lamppost took home a Gold Medal in the Filter category for their Green Apple coferment, a rare accomplishment for a first-time competitor at an event widely regarded as one of the most prestigious roasting competitions in the world.

Building on that early success, Lamppost returned to competition in October 2025 at Golden Bean The Americas in Houston, Texas, where leading roasters and industry experts from across North and South America gathered to evaluate the region’s best coffees. There, Lamppost delivered its strongest domestic performance to date, earning three Gold Medals and capturing the Overall Champion title in the Small Chain category. But it was at the Golden Bean World Series in Newcastle, Australia, in February that the team cemented its place on the global stage. Competing against top champions from around the world, Lamppost once again claimed the Overall Champion in the Small Chain category, this time on an international platform.

“Our focus since we began roasting our own beans in 2023 has been on sourcing exceptional coffees and investing deeply in developing our roasting program,” says Founder and CEO Brian Burns. “Over the past year, we’ve built strong relationships with other talented roasters and explored fun partnerships and collaborations that have pushed our craft even further.

This latest performance goes to show how Lamppost Coffee has quickly transformed from a small band of local coffee shops with a growing roasting program into an internationally recognized competitor. In just a few short years, the company has gone from first-time entrant to multi-gold medalist and back-to-back Overall Champion in Small Chain at Golden Bean events, a trajectory that underscores both the depth of their talent and the strength of their vision. With each competition, Lamppost continues to refine its craft, expand its relationships within the global coffee community, and elevate its roasting program to new heights. Head roaster Sean Jones states, “We have the privilege of working with some of the world's most innovative, scientific, and sustainability-focused coffee producers. The care and knowledge they pour into their coffee is astounding. As a roaster, I just try to let the coffee speak for itself.”

What started as a bold step into competition has become undeniable momentum, positioning Lamppost Coffee as one of the most exciting up-and-coming roasters to watch in the years ahead.

All award-winning coffees are available for purchase on Lamppost Coffee’s website or in any of their five shops located in Central Texas.

About Lamppost Coffee

Lamppost Coffee was founded in 2015 by Brian Burns in Round Rock, Texas. The story began with a simple vision: Love coffee. Love people. Brian's desire was to create space and opportunity for these two ideas to come together. What started as a single neighborhood coffee shop has now grown to five locations around the Austin area as well as a roasting facility and mobile coffee company in two states, Texas and Colorado. Each area of the business is committed to the expertise, care, and connection that helped launch their humble start. Brian has a deep love for the world of coffee. From the farmers at origin to the final product that they serve and share with the community, coffee has an almost magical way of bringing people together. That connection guides everything they roast, brew, and serve.
