Goldholly Splashes into Summer Fancy Foods with America's Only Caffeinated Plant

NYC-based beverage company showcases functional tea made from yaupon holly, America's only native caffeinated plant

NEW YORK, NY – June 18, 2025 – Goldholly will make its debut at the Specialty Food Association's Summer Fancy Food Show, showcasing its flagship Goldholly Organic American Supertea at Booth #RP156A in the River Pavilion at the Javits Center from June 29–July 1.

Selected to exhibit by the Center of Excellence for Food and Agriculture at Cornell AgriTech as a standout member company, Goldholly manufactures functional beverages from yaupon holly—America's only native caffeinated plant—grown on regenerative farms across the American Southeast.

"We're excited to introduce the specialty food industry to yaupon's potential as a premium functional beverage ingredient," said Liam Trotzuk, co-founder of Goldholly. "Our organic supertea delivers sustained jitter-free energy with wellness benefits while supporting American agriculture and industry."

Innovating Function in an Underutilized Native Plant

Goldholly Organic American Supertea, launched in April 2025, is crafted from 100% American-grown organic yaupon. The tea contains naturally-occurring caffeine, theacrine, and theobromine, delivering smooth, sustained energy without the crash associated with many caffeinated beverages. Rich in antioxidants and other compounds known to fight inflammation and promote longevity, the product targets the growing functional beverage market.

Unlike traditional caffeine options such as coffee and tea, which are typically imported, yaupon grows naturally in the Southeastern United States, making it well-suited for regenerative farming and a driver of healthy ecosystems and biodiversity.

"Yaupon offers unique functional benefits that differentiate it from the imported caffeine sources America has come to rely on," said co-founder Andrew Little. "We're showcasing three distinct roast profiles to highlight the plant's versatility and appeal to different taste preferences."

American-Made Resilience from Farm to Cup

Goldholly’s fully domestic supply chain demonstrates the viability of American-grown caffeine as a mainstream consumer option and offers resilience to tariffs and environmental changes. All organic yaupon used in Goldholly products is grown on regenerative family farms in Texas and Florida, using only sunshine and rainwater—no irrigation or agrochemicals required. Harvested leaves are then packaged with care in Pennsylvania, and orders are fulfilled and shipped in upstate New York by Mid-Hudson Works, a non-profit that provides gainful employment to veterans and disabled workers.

"Our entire supply chain—from plant to product—is based in the United States," said Trotzuk. "This not only creates jobs for American farmers, manufacturers, and workers, but also yields meaningful benefits for communities and the environment.”

The company recently showcased its commitment to minimizing its footprint by shipping product down the Hudson River to New York City via the Schooner Apollonia, a cargo sailboat that is boldly leading a return to wind-powered, low-impact shipping.

Experience Goldholly at the Summer Fancy Food Show

Goldholly will be sampling three signature roasts of Goldholly Organic American Supertea: Ocelot Light Roast, Panther Medium Roast, and Red Wolf Dark Roast. All varieties can be enjoyed hot or cold, with both preparations available for tasting throughout the three-day event.

"We are ecstatic to introduce more Americans to the benefits of this remarkable native plant," said co-founder Jeffrey Chung. "Our research-driven approach builds on centuries of knowledge combined with contemporary product development to create something genuinely new in the functional beverage space."
