Mama Hu’s Sushi Bakes Wins Top Honors at The Big Connecticut Food Event; 1st Prize and Audience Award Go to the World’s First Retail-Ready Sushi Bakes

Fairfield County, CT – March 1st, 2025 – Mama Hu’s Sushi BakesTM, the world’s first retail-ready sushi bake brand, proudly took home both First Prize and the Audience Award at The Big Connecticut Food Event—one of the state’s most prominent food entrepreneurial pitch competitions. The dual win recognizes both product innovation and consumer appeal.

Founded by former food executive and busy mom Catherine Hu, Mama Hu’s Sushi BakesTM offers a craveable, hassle-free twist on sushi rolls—a frozen meal tray made with premium ingredients like wild-caught Alaska seafood and organic avocado. All are gluten free; vegan options available too. Just bake for 30 minutes or microwave for 5 minutes. The product has captured the hearts of sushi lovers looking for quality, comfort, and convenience at home.

"We're honored to be recognized by both the judges and the public,” said Catherine Hu. “This award is a reflection of our mission—to bring delicious, sushi-inspired meals to busy families everywhere.”

The brand’s win was featured on the front pages of the Connecticut Post, Norwalk Hour, and New Canaan Advertiser. Read the article on CT Insider to learn more about Mama Hu’s journey and success.

Mama Hu’s Sushi BakesTM is currently available in select premium grocery stores and farmers markets across the greater New York and Connecticut area, with plans for broader retail expansion in 2025.  They are going to the 2025 Summer Fancy Food Show in NY.  You can try her sushi bakes at McMahon’s Farm’s booth or the River Pavilion Booth RP218A.
