CHICAGO, IL – 03.24.26 – Tempesta, the family-owned Chicago salumeria known for its Calabrian roots and award-winning slow-cured meats, has expanded its presence at Whole Foods Market. Tempesta’s signature ’Nduja is now available at Whole Foods Market locations nationwide, with Finocchiona, Nostrano, and Sopressata Piccante available in Midwest stores. All products are offered in updated packaging designed for product showcase and ease of use.

A Legacy of Craft, Rooted in Calabria

Tempesta blends five generations of Old World technique with American craftsmanship, producing salumi that honor Calabrian tradition while celebrating regional ingredients and thoughtful sourcing. This commitment to authenticity is literally rooted in the family’s history: the chilies used in Tempesta’s recipes are sourced from Nonno Antonio’s own garden of 3,000 Calabrian pepper plants, maintaining a direct link to the flavors of the Fiasche family’s home village of Coccorino.

About the Products

  • ’Nduja: Tempesta’s signature spicy, spreadable salami was the first ’Nduja introduced to the United States. Made by the family for five generations, it is crafted from heritage breed pork, authentic Calabrian peppers from the family garden, and sea salt. A fiery staple for bread, pizza, pasta, eggs, or anywhere depth and heat are wanted.

  • Finocchiona: An award-winning Tuscan fennel salami seasoned with fennel seeds, fennel pollen, garlic, and Chianti wine.

  • Nostrano: A Tempesta original featuring pink peppercorn, sweet pepper notes, a hint of wine, and a delicate floral finish.
  • Sopressata Piccante: A spicy sopressata seasoned simply with sea salt and Calabrian chili paste.

Responsible Sourcing & Product Standards

All Tempesta salumi in this launch are certified to Global Animal Partnership (G.A.P.) Step 1 standards through EarthClaims LLC. Products are crafted from heritage Berkshire and Duroc pork raised without antibiotics or added hormones. The products are gluten-free with no added nitrates or nitrites, except those occurring naturally in sea salt and celery powder.

Tempesta’s signature ’Nduja is currently available at Whole Foods Market locations nationwide. The full assortment—including Finocchiona, Nostrano, and Sopressata Piccante—is available in Midwest Whole Foods Market stores.
