Food Giants Lean Into Air Fryer Trend

Food companies like Nestlé are tailoring products specifically for air fryers, which saw nearly $1 billion in sales in 2022, in order to continue sales growth as inflation cools, reports CNBC.

Adam Graves, president of Nestlé’s U.S. pizza and snacking division, said that the air fryer craze is, “the biggest trend that we’re seeing right now in modern cooking.” In 2022, research from the NPD Group found that the air fryer beat out grills and multicookers to become the number 4 cooking appliance.

Tyson Foods, which jumped on the trend in 2019 with an air fryer product line, has already reached roughly $100 million in annual sales, according to Colleen Hall, senior marketing director of the brand.

“If you look at how often it gets used as a preparation method, it’s around 5 percent,” Hall said. “I think consumers want to use it more, they want more options to use it. So it’s good timing for us to be putting it on our packaging.”

Other food makers like Kellogg and Hormel Foods have also been satisfying the demand for air fryer capabilities by updating their packaging and adding recipes that include the cooking method. Full Story
