Noonas Ice Cream LLC

Noona's Ice Cream was created in 2016 with the goal of making Asian American ice cream flavors in the most delicious and sustainable way possible. We're best known for pioneering Asian American flavors in the CPG food space and creating unique and innovative flavors like our award-winning Toasted Rice Ice Cream. Noona means big sister in Korean. My name is Hannah Bae and I'm a pastry chef, entrepreneur and proud Asian American. Being born and raised in the United States, I believe in the importance of representation. I named the company after the Korean word noona, because I never grew up with mentors or the resources to put me on a path for success. I had to grow up fast as a kid as there was significant loss in my early years. I didn't have a normal childhood, but through Noona's Ice Cream and its playful and vibrant branding I've been able to recreate my childhood and manifest new joys into the world, ones that can be shared in the form of ice cream. With Noona's Ice Cream, I'm changing the script for my life and in doing so I am changing the script for another. A common question to ask oneself is where do I fit in? How can I use my skills and talents to make an impact? I believe it's important to preserve roots and share your story, as it is a part of the many different stories of Americans. For the AAPI community, our stories and histories have never been at the center or important enough. As much as I have doubts and fears on a daily basis, I created Noona’s Ice Cream out of necessity. I wanted to create a space where I could celebrate my identity, and I’m so grateful to be creating flavors that represent the sweet side of Asian ingredients and show the world how Asian American ice cream flavors can fill up an entire shelf of a mainstream American supermarket and be absolutely embraced.
