As Consumer Trust in Food Declines, Bioitalia Gives Shoppers and Retailers Direct Access to the Data Behind Every Product, Every Batch, Every Time.
Eighty-three percent of consumers check food labels. Seventy-five percent read ingredient lists. And a growing number of them are no longer stopping there. Apps like Yuka, Open Food Facts, and others have put a product audit tool in the pocket of every shopper, and people are using them. In the aisle, in real time, they are scanning products and making decisions based on what the data actually says rather than what the front of the pack claims.
Long before consumers started scanning products in the aisle, Bioitalia had already built traceability into its supply chain.
Traceability is the new currency.
Transparency used to mean publishing a sourcing policy. Traceability means something harder and more specific: a documented, verifiable chain of custody from the farm to the shelf, with records that remain permanently documented throughout the supply chain.
Bioitalia built that system into its supply chain before traceability became an industry conversation. Every Bioitalia product is backed by a ledger that documents the farm of origin, the organic certification covering that farm and its validity period, the harvest date and batch reference, the processing and packaging facility, and the full distribution chain.
The entry point for consumers is the Stamp of Integrity: a mark carried on every Bioitalia SKU that functions as a visible trust signal at the point of purchase. Behind it is a QR code. Behind the QR code is the actual data. Not a marketing page. The data.
"We don't ask consumers to trust us. We give them the tools to verify us. People want to know where their food comes from, and we believe they should be able to see that for themselves."
[Valentina Di Costanzo, Global CMO], Bioitalia
What the scan actually shows.
A consumer who scans a Bioitalia QR code sees the name of the farm where the ingredients were grown. The organic certification covering that farm and its current validity. The harvest date and batch reference. The processing and packaging facility. The complete chain, field to fork, in under sixty seconds.
This is not a pilot programme or a premium tier. It is the baseline. It applies to every can, every SKU, every batch that Bioitalia produces. The technology made it legible to the consumer. The Di Costanzo family made it possible by building their supply chain this way from the beginning.
What this means for retailers.
Shoppers in the natural and specialty channel are moving from label claims to evidence. The brands that will build lasting category loyalty are the ones that can survive scrutiny, not just invite it. Bioitalia gives retailers a product they can put on the shelf with full confidence, and gives their customers the means to verify that confidence for themselves.
At the show.
At the Summer Fancy Food Show, Bioitalia will demonstrate the traceability system live at Booth 2958, Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York. Pick up a product. Open the camera. See where it came from.
Buyers and press are welcome.
