Introducing UMYUM

The innovative plantbased brand expands to the U.S. market

Vancouver, BC, Canada  (Jun. 26, 2025) UMYUM, the creator of plantbased rinded cheeses, soft cheeses, and gourmet butters, is proud to announce its debut in the U.S. market. With a focus on clean ingredients and culinary excellence, UMYUM is redefining the world of alternative dairy through its proprietary food platform and whole-food approach—delivering beautifully delicious products that don’t compromise on taste, texture, or integrity.

UMYUM was born from necessity, curiosity, and an unexpected turning point. In 2017, co-founders Katherine and Baz Corden began experimenting with plantbased cheesemaking after discovering their newborn’s dairy intolerance. When the pandemic shuttered their previous business in 2020, they found themselves at a crossroads—and chose to double down on a new path. What started as a personal solution quickly resonated beyond their kitchen, gaining momentum among friends, family, and food lovers alike. The response opened new doors, and UMYUM Food Inc. officially launched.

After years of research and development, UMYUM unveiled its proprietary food platform in 2021, delivering a breakthrough in clean, whole-food innovation. Designed to replicate the smooth, creamy taste experience traditionally achieved with conventional milk, the process harnesses the natural structure of the whole cashew drupe to create a flavor-forward, nutritious product.

Currently, UMYUM’s product line consists of a selection of soft cheeses, Monroe (a camembert style cheese), and butters.

Soft Cheeses: Designed to shine on cheeseboards and in sophisticated culinary applications, UMYUM’s soft cheeses feature bold, refined flavor combinations: Za’atar & Spices, Chutney & Saffron, and Coffee & Pepper. Available in both wedge and large round formats, they offer versatility for retail, foodservice, and deli environments.

Monroe: UMYUM’s signature aged cheese, Monroe, is a white-rind style inspired by French classics like Camembert and Coulommiers. Made from the whole cashew kernel—not just cashew milk—it’s crafted with simple ingredients: cashews, water, salt, and cultures. The result is a rich, nutrient-dense cheese with no added oils, starches, fillers, or artificial flavors. Combining traditional cheesemaking techniques with UMYUM’s proprietary platform, Monroe offers a clean-label cheese experience that’s unparalleled in taste and texture.

The Butter: UMYUM’s gourmet butters are available in four distinctive SKUs: Classic (Salted), Truffle, Herb, and Slow-Roasted Garlic. Each variety delivers a smooth, creamy texture ideal for spreading, cooking, and baking. Professionally tested in culinary settings, UMYUM butters have demonstrated outstanding performance—even in advanced pastry techniques like lamination.

UMYUM maintains a direct partnership with a unique cashew supplier in Africa, chosen for its conscientious, community-centered business model. This relationship ensures access to premium, whole cashew ingredients—maximizing nutritional integrity while supporting ethical sourcing. Holistic, purpose-driven sourcing is central to UMYUM’s mission, in support of the brand’s commitment to integrity and intention in every aspect of the business.

UMYUM’s full line is now available at select U.S. retailers, bringing a new level of artistry and intention to the plantbased category.
