Miss Fortunes Releases Two More Products Amid Tense Hostage Standoff

Unpredictable Fortune Cookie Maker offers mixed messages from Booth 3228.

LOS ANGELES – Jan. 10, 2023 – “The cookies are sweet. The fortunes are salty!” That’s the warning offered by Miss Fortunes on every bag of 12 hilarious fortune cookies.  And now, just ahead of the Winter Fancy Food Show, Miss Fortunes is releasing two new products whose messages are as sexy as they are sinister.

For Valentine’s Day, the cookie maker is adding The Sexy Dozen to its best-selling Dirty Dozen for those looking to double their pleasure on the most romantic night on the calendar. Some of the more notable messages in the mix:

- If you play your cards right, this isn’t the only cookie you’ll be eating tonight.

- There’s no greater gift than sharing your love, so go ahead with that threesome.

- If you love somebody set them free…handcuffs are only fun for so long.

But wait, there’s more. Miss Fortunes is also introducing its bleakest creation yet, Fortunes Against Humanity, with messages so dark, they could only be printed in New Jersey. “We literally had to switch suppliers to get these made,” said Andrew Robbins, a television comedy writer and co-founder of Miss Fortunes. “I wasn’t sure whether to be insulted or flattered.”

The Fortunes Against Humanity are advertised with the tagline “Offend Someone You Love Today!” and it’s not hard to see why with messages like:

- “Live each day like it’s your last,” said the hospice billboard.

- A spontaneous journey awaits with a mysterious stranger and a windowless van.

- An encounter with a leprechaun will bring you untold wealth and painful syphilis.

The distinctive red fortune cookies are sold by the dozen in various themed bags such as The Birthday Dozen, The Boozy Dozen, and the wildly popular holiday bags, The Naughty Dozen and The Nice Dozen. And though they’ve been available online for one year, it’s the first time they’re being rolled out at an event like The Fancy Food Show. “We don’t know what to expect,” said Robbins. “Outrage is probably the most likely reaction. But if they don’t close us down after Day 1, we will consider it a victory.”

Miss Fortunes’ offbeat collections are available on Etsy, Amazon, select independent retailers, and missfortunesla.com.   Instagram: missfortunescookies   Facebook: Missfortunes1

About Miss Fortunes

Miss Fortunes is the brainchild of husband and wife team, Leiah and Andrew Robbins. The idea was born from a spouse vs. spouse challenge that took place whenever the couple went out for Chinese food. When it came time to read the fortune cookies, each would try to one-up the other by improvising the worst possible news that could be delivered by a fortune cookie. In December of 2021, the pair decided to share their “mis-fortunes” with the online world by putting them in devilishly red fortune cookies, and selling them on Etsy.  Five thousand orders later, the couple has taken the idea from online to 50 retail stores, and in 2023, to a restaurant near you.
