French Broad Chocolate Flavors Inspired By Local ‘Mompreneurs’

French Broad Chocolate has introduced a collection of bonbons for Mother’s Day, with flavors inspired by local, mom-founded businesses in Asheville, North Carolina.

The chocolate brand's co-founder, CEO, and mom of two, Jael Skeffington, pitched the concept of the collection to female founders Katie Button of Curate, Ginger Frank of Poppy Popcorn, Sara Delaney of Sarilla, Neomi Negron from Buggy Pops, and Molly Irani of Chai Pani.

“The idea is to celebrate Mother’s Day by shining a light on a few of the amazing moms in our mountain town. We’re inspired by those who birth babies and businesses, who care about their families at home and at work; who strive to make our community better, stronger, and tastier for the benefit of all,” said Skeffington.

Poppy’s sweet and salty Butter Almond Toffee popcorn inspired a milk chocolate ganache with toasty almonds and crunchy, buttery toffee bits. The Mango Lassi bonbon, featuring sweet mango and tart yogurt with cardamom and lime in a white chocolate ganache, is homage to the classic refresher from James Beard Award winning restaurant, Chai Pani. Sangria Roja from Katie Button’s award-winning restaurant, Curate, is the star of a dark chocolate bonbon featuring red wine, citrus, juniper, peppercorn, and cognac.

The Mountain Mamas Collection is $38 for a box of 24 handcrafted bonbons, and can be ordered online.
