Garden of Eden Returns to NYC's Gramercy Park
On Wednesday, Garden of Eden / Eden Gourmet Marketplace opened its newest location in Manhattan’s Gramercy Park, New York. This marks a milestone as the brand celebrates 30 years since it first began its journey in the same neighborhood.
Mustafa Coskun, owner and founder of Eden Gourmet Marketplace, told SFA News Daily that the grocer debuted in 1994 a block from the current location; however, was forced to leave after the lease ended in 2004 when the building’s landlord sold the property to a developer. The grocer is eager to return to the community that first welcomed it.
“We are hoping to bring to the community good quality and a reasonable product and service,” said Coskun. The grocer also desires to serve as “a friendly neighborhood establishment.”
The store offers the community a curated selection of fresh produce, high-quality meats and seafood, a diverse cheese selection, freshly baked goods, and an assortment of prepared foods. Coskun said that, because the location used to be a CVS, they also wanted to provide more convenience and beauty items to fill that gap for the community, including household essentials and personal hygiene products.
Below is an inside look at the Gramercy Park location:
"Our vision has always been to offer an exceptional shopping experience that balances quality products with competitive pricing," said Coskun in a statement. "It's a matter of pride for us to maintain this balance, ensuring our customers receive the best value for their money. This new store in Gramercy Park is a testament to our enduring commitment to this vision."
Coskun added that the new location will emphasize specialty and imported products.
“In this location, we are paying more attention to specialty products that customers in the neighborhood cannot find elsewhere,” Coskun told SFA News Daily. “For example, our olive oil and vinegar selections are much [bigger] than in our other locations.”
The new location also touts delivery options including free delivery within the neighborhood (in roughly a five-block radius) with a minimum purchase as well as online ordering through third-party services including Mercato, Instacart, UberEats, DoorDash, and Grubhub.
This is the retailer's third location. The other two stores are located near Manhattan's Union Square and Upper West Side.
