Home Chef Builds Production Center

Specialty Food Association

Douglasville, Georgia is home to Home Chef’s newest production center, which will expand the company’s distribution in the southeast. The 181,000-square-foot facility will allow for more capacity, and increased efficiencies. Home Chef is a meal solutions company acquired by Kroger in 2018 with a retail and online presence.

The facility is the company’s first single-tenant location, equipped with an upgraded food-safe material design, efficient cleaning processes, and a full-service kitchen for cooking meals.

"Our Atlanta facility is a foundational part of delivering high-quality meals to our customers in the south and beyond," said Erik Jensen, Home Chef's CEO, in a statement. "This brand new center will make our production and distribution even more efficient, so we can continue to bring fans easy, delicious recipes."

The new center will accommodate the ecommerce meal delivery service and its retail needs.

"I'm thrilled that Home Chef decided to bring its business to Douglasville," said Rochelle Robinson, Douglasville mayor, in a statement. "Once again, Douglasville proves it is the place to do business in metro Atlanta, and I can't wait to see the positive economic impact this Home Chef development will have on the Douglasville community, which is always open for business."

The production of this facility will create the need for nearly 700 new jobs in the area. The company will work with Elevate Douglas Economic Partnership, a local economic development agency, to organize job fairs and other related workforce initiatives.
