Nielsen: Omnichannel Shopping Grows

Over 18 million CPG shoppers have gone online to do their shopping since March 2020, according to a survey by Nielsen, reports Food Business News. In addition, this has led to a 50 percent increase in omnichannel shopping over the past year, as many consumers find online channels as a way to compare prices, research new products, and find physical stores.

The survey also found that online shoppers became more invested in searching for the best new products than their brick-and-mortar counterparts and the number of shoppers who consider themselves as exclusive or heavy online shoppers increased by 133 percent from September 2019 to September 2020.
