North Carolina Food Lion Opens

The Briar Chapel neighborhood in Pittsboro, North Carolina welcomed a new Food Lion, marking the third location the grocer has opened this year.

The store features fresh-cut fruit, grab-and-go meal options, a collection of organic, gluten-free, and plant-based offerings. A walk-in produce cooler and self-service hot wing and Asian food bar are also available. Grocery pick-up capabilities are possible through Food Lion To Go.

“I’m very excited to bring our easy, fresh and affordable shopping experience to more of our neighbors in Chatham County,” said Jason Kiser, store manager of the new Briar Chapel Food Lion, in a statement. “I’m looking forward to providing the Briar Chapel community with our easy in-store checkout options, simple Food Lion To Go online ordering, and convenient shopping at the best prices possible every day.”

Many local products sourced from surrounding communities in North Carolina are also highlighted, including craft beer from Carolina Brewing, also based in Pittsboro, and Cottle Farms produce grown in the nearby town of Faison.

To give back to the Briar Chapel community, the grocer donated 30,000 meals to the food pantry at Haw River Baptist Church through a company-wide hunger-relief initiative called Food Lion Feeds. The church will also regularly collect food from the store through a food rescue program.
