Member-based Thrive Market now accepts SNAP EBT payments, making it the first online-only retailer in the nation to do so, according to the company.

“Thrive Market’s SNAP EBT acceptance is a groundbreaking move in making healthy groceries more accessible and affordable,” said Nick Green, Thrive Market co-founder and CEO, in a statement. “Our acceptance will redefine how Americans can access healthy options, irrespective of their geography, with deliveries directly to their door.”

SNAP EBT cardholders qualify for a free one-year membership through the retailer’s Thrive Gives program. More than 42 million Americans use SNAP EBT to get groceries and other essentials.

Nearly 70 percent of products on thrivemarket.com are SNAP EBT-eligible including foods such as bread and crackers, cereal and granola, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry and fish, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, and sweets such as cookies and candies.
