US Foods Completes DC

Specialty Food Association

US Foods, the food service distributor, recently completed the expansion of its Marrero, Louisiana distribution center. The new facility is nearly three times as large.

The expanded location includes a full-service demonstration kitchen and training center, and a technology center where customers can learn about the company’s web-based solutions. In 2017, the company acquired F. Christiana, a meat wholesaler, and broke ground on the renovated distribution center in 2019.

“This is an important milestone for our growing Louisiana team as we continue to partner with local foodservice operators who support our vibrant and thriving New Orleans community,” said Dan Hildreth, US Foods market vice president, in a statement. “We value our role in helping our local restaurants ‘Make It’ with our differentiated and expanded resources and services and look forward to serving additional markets with our growing service footprint.”

The company is committed to reducing the environmental footprint of its operations; therefore, the facility will include energy-efficient refrigeration systems, energy-saving LED lighting, and water-efficient landscaping, among other features.
