Wegmans Hires for Delaware Location

Specialty Food Association

Wegmans will open a new store in Wilmington, Delaware on October 26. The retailer is looking to fill 185 part-time positions at the 84,000 square-foot market, spanning food service, stocking, perishable departments, and maintenance.

“The most important qualification is a willingness to learn and grow. Though the opening is still a few months away, new employees begin training soon after they’re hired so that when we open the doors, they’re knowledgeable about our offerings and ready to provide incredible customer service,” said Wilmington store manager Jared Fedor in a statement. “Wegmans has a long-standing reputation as an exceptional employer, with tremendous opportunity for career growth and development.”

The company will offer entry into its Employee Scholarship Program to its part-time team members; the program has already awarded $130 million to over 42,500 employees since its founding in 1984. The location will employ approximately 450 people, most of whom will be local to the area.

The new store will include a Market Cafe, a coffee shop, and The Burger Bar.

For 25 years in a row, Wegmans has ranked high on Fortune magazine’s list of “The 100 Best Companies to Work For,” placing third in 2022.
