Fancy Feast Plans Pop-Up Restaurant for Humans

Specialty Food Association

The wet cat food brand Fancy Feast will open a limited-time Italian-style trattoria and culinary experience in New York City called “Gatto Bianco by Fancy Feast.” The restaurant intends to celebrate the company’s Medley product line as well as pay homage to traditional Italian cuisine.

The company’s in-house chef, Amanda Hassner, will team up with Michelin Star winning Italian chef Cesare Casella to create the dining experience, which will take place August 11 and 12. Sixteen guests each night will receive a tasting menu which will be accompanied by chef Casella’s explanations of the inspiration, and chef Hassner’s culinary expertise which she will use to “mirror the sensory experience of cats at mealtime,” according to a statement by the company.

"Food has the power to connect us to others in meaningful ways and take us to places we have never been," said Hassner. "The same is true for our cats. The dishes at Gatto Bianco are prepared in ways that help cat owners understand how their cats experience food–from flavor, to texture, to form–in a way that only Fancy Feast can."

The restaurant builds on the Fancy Feast cookbook released in 2021, which allowed cat owners to cook and eat human equivalents of the company’s cat food dishes at mealtime.
