Chick-fil-A to Test Plant-Based Sandwich

Chick-fil-A announced Thursday that it will soon test the plant-based Chick-fil-A Cauliflower Sandwich. The preparation is similar to the original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich: it is marinated, breaded, pressure-cooked, and served on a toasted bun with dill pickle chips.

Starting Monday, Chick-fil-A will be testing the cauliflower sandwich at restaurants in Denver, Charleston, South Carolina, and North Carolina's Greensboro-Triad region.

"Cauliflower is the hero of our new sandwich, and it was inspired by our original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich," said Leslie Neslage, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A, in a statement. "Guests told us they wanted to add more vegetables into their diets, and they wanted a plant-forward entrée that tasted uniquely Chick-fil-A.”

Because milk and eggs are included in the preparation of the dish, and the preparation of the sandwich will be on the same surface as the meat-based offering, the product will not be vegan or vegetarian.
