Drops of Dough Wins New Product sofi™ Award

Nearly 1,500 Products Competed for Top Specialty Food Association Awards

San Mateo, CA (May 18, 2021)Drops of Dough has won the New Product Award in the Frozen Desserts category as part of the Specialty Food Association’s (SFA) 2021 sofi™ Awards, a top honor in the $158 billion specialty food industry.

Drops of Dough was one of 130 winners selected from nearly 1,500 entries across 49 product categories. Products are judged in an anonymous sampling for taste - including flavor, appearance, texture and aroma - ingredient quality, and innovation. The sofi judging was held at the prestigious Rutgers Food Innovation Center in April following strict safety guidelines.

“We are thrilled that our Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwich has won a New Product Award,” says Erin Aliaga, owner and co-founder of Drops of Dough. “To be recognized by the industry for our commitment to quality and flavor is a big honor. The sofi Awards are ultimate stamps of approval and we’re proud to claim the New Product recognition this year.”

Our chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches are handcrafted with silky vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two perfectly baked cookies. Our award winning recipe, with mostly organic ingredients, was developed over 35-years. Five percent of our sales fund pediatric cancer research. Our products can be purchased at Erewhon Markets throughout Los Angeles, Mollie Stone’s throughout the Bay Area, Roberts Markets, Bianchini’s Markets and Little Original Joe’s in San Francisco.

The sofi Awards competition is open annually to members of the Specialty Food Association. The Awards have been given each year since 1972. They recognize extraordinary specialty food and beverage products and the people who create them.

Drops of Dough was founded in October 2019 by Erin Aliaga and Cameron Hecht. Located in San Mateo, CA, the company was founded to support families in their small town battling osteosarcoma. Ms. Aliaga and Ms. Hecht launched Drops of Dough to donate 5% of sales to pediatric cancer research.
