Honey Wine Vinegar Launch by American Vinegar Works from Historic New England Vinegar Works

Specialty Food Association

Premium, craft vinegar maker expands raw vinegar line-up.

Worcester, Mass. - September 21, 2022. -- American Vinegar Works (AVW) is announcing the launch of its Honey Wine Vinegar in collaboration with Maine Mead Works and The Best Bees Company.

The limited release Honey Wine Vinegar is in addition to a line of 11 barrel-aged vinegars available to home cooks and chefs at specialty stores throughout the country, from the company’s website, and at all Whole Foods locations in the North Atlantic region.

All Abuzz About a Sweet and Sour Vinegar Collaboration

AVW’s newest vinegar is a sweet and tangy, premium honey wine vinegar.

HoneyMaker Semi Sweet Mead from Maine Mead Works was slow fermented and then whiskey-barrel aged over several months before being blended with The Best Bees Company’s purpose-harvested raw and unfiltered honey.

The blend produces a woodsy, honey-forward vinegar that presents with the warm, hazy glow of a honeycomb.   Available in 250ml glass bottles as a limited-edition release.

Reviving a Vinegar Tradition

American Vinegar Works has revived a premium vinegar making process from the 1800s by partnering with local universities to recreate a process that was displaced by modern industrial vinegar production.

AVW vinegars are slow fermented, barrel-aged, and hand bottled by adults with developmental disabilities out of a historic mill on the National Register of Historic Places in Massachusetts.

Vinegar varieties include red and white wine, rice wine, cider, and beer malt vinegars—in addition to today’s launch of a mead-based vinegar.

AVW creates vinegars with a sense of place by using only select American alcohols to slow ferment their vinegars.  Raw and never filtered.

Sold in attractive 250ml consumer bottles and newly introduced 1 liter food service sizes.
