Not Nuts! Founder Dr Kaadze Wright left Ghana at 17 years old, but she never forgot the poverty in rural parts of the country. In 2018, spurred by projections that Africa's working-age population would increase to 1.1 billion by 2035; Kaadze knew action had to be taken immediately to create jobs and provide food for the future. Within the year, she broke ground on a 100-acre organic cashew farm in Ghana to support the local women who are often responsible for farming. But Kaadze hasn’t stopped there. In 2019, she started the only tiger nut cooperative farm in Ghana in the eastern region of Kwahu.
Why Tigernuts? For one, they are nut-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free. They date back thousands of years and are not nuts at all. They are tubers, like beets, carrots, and sweet potatoes.
