January 11, 2023 -- The results are in!  Ross Sugar Free Dark Chocolate does not increase blood sugar levels in adults with diabetes.

A study published in Nutrition and Metabolic Insights reports that eating Ross Sugar-Free Dark Chocolate results in lower blood glucose levels than regular dark chocolate in adults with diabetes because Ross Dark Chocolate is completely sugar-free while conventional dark chocolate contains sugar and other no sugar added chocolates often contain sugar derivatives or substitutes that increase blood sugar levels.

Highlights of the report are:

  • Ross Sugar Free Dark Chocolate did not significantly affect blood sugar levels for up to 2 hours after consumption.
  • Consuming 2 to 6 oz (58-168g) of Ross Sugar Free Dark Chocolate per week can help to delay or stop the onset of Type 2 diabetes.
  • Ross Sugar Free Dark Chocolate can reduce fasting blood sugar levels in obese and overweight people.
  • Ross Sugar Free Dark Chocolate may have cardiovascular benefits; more study is needed.

The study compared blood sugar levels of both Type 1 diabetics and Type 2 diabetics before and after eating conventional dark chocolate and Ross Sugar Free Dark Chocolate. The researchers found that eating Ross Sugar Free Dark Chocolate did not significantly raise blood sugars for up to two hours and no insulin or treatment for increased blood sugars was required by anyone. That makes Ross Sugar Free Dark Chocolate the first chocolate scientifically proven to be safe for diabetics!
