Whole Foods Opens Chicago Store

Specialty Food Association

Whole Foods Market opened its new 65,956-square-foot Chicago store, today, located in the new One Chicago high-rise. The store will serve as a relocation of the existing Chicago store located at 30 W. Huron St., according to the retailer.

The store’s design is inspired by the historic homes, storefronts, and gourmet restaurants of the surrounding neighborhoods with elements like elegant arches, recycled handmade tiles, and glazed brick, according to the retailer. The new location’s assortment emphasizes local products from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.

Today through May 1, Whole Foods  will match 100 percent of proceeds from any local product purchased in-store, up to $5,000, to benefit Lakeview Pantry. Lakeview Pantry is one of the newest recipients of a refrigerated van from Whole Foods Market’s Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program. From May 2 through May 8, Whole Foods Market will donate 1 percent of each day’s total sales to benefit four local Chicago schools and will provide additional support for local nonprofit organizations including Inspiration Kitchens, Chicago Parks Foundation and Chicago Help Initiative.
