Are you an entrepreneur developing new products? Do you have questions about ensuring the safety of your product? If so, you are invited to attend two free virtual product development courses this summer hosted by the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Center for Agriculture, Food, and the Environment.
Titled Successful Food Product Development for New Food Businesses, these courses are designed specifically to address product development and food safety issues faced by small processors. Throughout the course, the following will be introduced: food science basics, important considerations when developing a new food product, key elements required for product labeling, and an overview of key regulatory requirements for small and emerging food businesses, such as entrepreneurs and local food processors.
The first course will take place on Tuesday, August 10 and Thursday August 12, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST. In this course, content will be taught by food safety educators from the University of Massachusetts, the Franklin County CDC, and other Northeastern partners. Registration information here.
The second course will take place Tuesday, August 31 to Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. EST daily. In this course, content will be taught by food safety educators from the Universities of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Arkansas, and the National Farmer's Union. Registration information here.
For both courses, participants must register before the event starts. Contact Christopher Von Achen at [email protected] with any questions.
